Grounding Reel – RGA750
The RGA750 grounding reel is an essential safety device for floating roof tanks. It provides a low-impedance connection between the moving roof and the tank, significantly reducing the risk of electrical arcs and fire in the event of lightning.

- Benefits
- Reduces fire risks associated with atmospheric electrical discharges.
- Automatic braid adjustment prevents hazardous winding risks.
- Provides a reliable and continuous electrical connection between the floating roof and tank shell.
- Quick and simple installation, even on existing tanks (approximately 2 hours).
- Can be installed using cold mounting methods.
- Factory pre-tensioned, requiring no on-site adjustment.
- Exceptional durability with marine-grade components resistant to corrosion and H₂S.
- No regular maintenance needed.
Complies with API 545 and NFPA 780 standards. - ATEX certified for explosive atmospheres.
Avantages
Installation
The RGA750 can be easily installed on all types of tanks, whether new or in service, without hot work. Its design allows for quick installation in approximately 2 hours. It seamlessly integrates with the tank, ensuring a reliable grounding continuity with the floating roof via a very low impedance aluminum braid.
Technology
The system features a short, factory-pre-tensioned conductive braid mounted on a self-retracting reel.
This setup minimizes the grounding circuit impedance and eliminates the risk of electrical arcing between the floating roof and the tank shell during storms.
The materials, originally designed for marine applications, provide excellent corrosion resistance, even in the presence of H₂S.
Testabilité
- Visual inspection of braid tension
- Electrical continuity check via resistance testing
